So far we have not received any official news out here, but have received word from Harold that he is in the 1st Birmingham War Hospital. He says that he has had shell shock, pneumonia & bronchitis, but is getting on alright now. He evidently went under early in October. We are just living in hopes that he will be kept in England during the severe part of the winter.
Some time ago I received a long letter from Gladys Nappey I replied to it in September, some of our boats went down just after that and I've been wondering if my epistle ever arrived at its destination or whether the mermaids have claimed it.
Clarence Phillips said in his last letter that he had met you & that he remembered meeting you somewhere in Sydney. Now-a-days folk meet each other at all ends of the globe. Received your letter with the leaves enclosed it must have been Autumn when you picked them as they were the real Autumn shade. What a bad time the trees get over there.
