My Dear Mother Father & Sister
I have just had a few day's leave & it has been thoroughly enjoyable, the Military Dept. of course gave me railway warrants but I had to pay for sleeping berth.
Leaving here Thursday at 7 pm I arrived in Melb at 10.10am Friday. The journey is not anything to get excited over. A lady was travelling whom I knew and her kiddie was awfully interesting - about 8 mths old it would stay with its daddy for only a few moments at a time but with this chick well I could do anything with it. We passed thro the country haunted by the famous bushrangers and saw the hotel where Ned Kelly was captured. The country looked simply delightful, waving wheat for miles, rain has been plentiful this year - possibly we have had too much. One however appreciated the great difference between this & last year.
Immediately after our arrival in Melb I went out to Camberwell in a car & called on some people there my main job being to hand over Scotts sword to his fair lady with her I enjoyed a good yarn. Returning to the Malcolm's
