Dear Malcolm,
Now I should have answered your welcome letter a wee bit earlier; but I've been back in bed for a couple of weeks again & have not felt much like writing. I had a blanky relapse & so put an end to my hopes of getting out of the hospital for Xmas. I was glad to hear you are still going strong; but I guess this weather is making things pretty rough amongst you.
Many thanks for introducion to Mrs Nappy - I have since corresponded with them & will pay them a visit when I am on furlough. And thro' them I have received a letter from my Dad's cousin - John Whitworth of Walsall - and I must pay him a call also. I can see myself having a dam good time when I get this leave - so long as I feel fit enough for 14 days fling and high living.
