see civilians & to hear the children play, how different to the silent villages nearer the lines.

Enroute we passed a glorious cathedral, although the city was "out of bounds" & we could not enter we were able from the road thro a suburb to obtain a magnificent view, it is said to be one of the most exquisite bits of architecture in the world, certainly we were only able to get a rough idea of its design.  Still we were happy to see even this. Fritz has put a couple of shells near it, so we are told, but we could not see any of the damage, on my way home I intend to have a closer look,​
