The cousin Stanley part of the business came up like this, the kiddies were going to bed & were saying their prayers, they included Daddy & Mum & all their little brothers & sisters, Monsieur l'Abbé Grandma then to everyone's astonishment included myself as Cousin Stanley. I thoroughly appreciated the compliment, it seems always my good fortune to be on good terms with the little folks.
Just had orders to go into the trenches tomorrow, this will be quite a change for during the past few days I have done next to nothing, might as well be up there as hanging round here. Old Fritz is having a shot at our planes, it is difficult to shoot down a plane, all they seem to be able to do is to put a barrage around them, occasionally we see a plane come down but very seldom, the last I saw come down was about 15 days ago. I think it was Fritz anyway it dropped well behind his lines. They often come over bombing but so far this has only had a very minor part in our life here, they dont count.
