Am sending a letter received from Auntie Miss Shore evidently she is not to well of late & Nathaniels youngster is by all a/cs very ill, I feel awfully sorry for it is such a pretty little thing.
I wrote to Auntie Ellen of [indecipherable] so expect a letter during the next few days.
Owing to the school I have not visited the lines - front lines I meant in this sector, indeed I am sorry for this place promises to be historic.
I see old Fritz is making assertions that this year will finish the war, won't it be jolly if this should turn out to be true, I'm quite willing, like good old Barkus.
Just found a bottle of soda water on my bed, actually I fancy it belongs to my whisky drinking friends next door, all the same I drank it & it tasted good.
Theres "nothin doin" worse luck.
With love & good wishes,
Yours affectionately
Malcolm
