Dear Mrs. Stanley

Some weeks ago I had the pleasure of a visit from "Stan". He asked me to drop you a line - I promised to do so sometime. Friends "up the line" & in Blighty are so kind in writing that one soon loses any spare energy in trying to keep replies up to date.

Stan rode down here over 43 miles kilos of greasy roads on a cranky old motor bike. It was quite a surprise seeing him walk into the ward & I greatly enjoyed the fine old yarn we had together. Stan was very amusing over his experiences coming down with the bike.

It was good talking over old times together & one found Stan as full of enthusiasm as ever.

You will be glad to know that Stan is looking very well indeed. He had the good colour that comes from a healthy open air life & seems to have put on weight, at any rate there is nothing frail about Stan at present.
