27/28th February
Flanders

My dear Florrie

Am in receipt of a number of letters from you dated Dec. 9th & 27th, one from Mother dated 9th Dec & one from my Dad dated Dec 11th, it is very gratifying to receive them. Am very pleased to learn that mine arrive so regularly during a stunt.  I write frequently for obvious reasons. Glad Hugh Goldsbury is near Ohakuri, get him to run over home occasionally. I always had for him a great respect & it is possible that he will remember me. The leather hussifs are excellebt mine has been very useful. Hope your throat continues to improve, glad you received my odds & ends & also my rough notes, the certificate re the iron cross is particularly interesting, yes I am afraid that the old German won't need it any more. I hope the gas helmet arrives safely was thinking my Dad could show it in his window as an item of interest from the war. You mention lovely P.C's. I have not the slightest recollection of them & would be happy if you would give a general indication of what they were like. Am very pleased to hear that you intend to get some of them framed. Did you receive those of London by night? I have frequently thought of them. It is pleasing to know that you do not get the "wind up" over my stories, we have all to go through them and you might as well know the detail - that is as far as the orders re censorship permit. The remarks re the church in Raetihi are cheering. I hope the attendance will continue good we here receive very little opportunity to go to church usually our church is a ruined barn, really its quite 3 months since I attended a service. Raetihi must have had a red letter day when the railway opened. I would like to have been present.

Am highly amused at Cousin Alice
