C/o Auntie ME
London
My dear Mother Father & Sister
The above isnt my actual address but its near enough, actually I am in hospital just fnishing off the second of two attacks of this beastly influenza, the first one came to me whilst I was at Auntie ME, it was nice & mild & Auntie nursed me thro it which was awfully kind of her, being on leave & having extended it by some 3 or 4 days I, as soon as I could walk went to Hqrs to report for France, they didnt kick up any row but sent me to a Dr who discovered that I had still a temperature & immediately he pitched me into hospital, here I was apparently all right & doing fine when suddenly I tackled the second lot which nearly finished me off, it has been a close shave for a military funeral. Fortunately we have one of the finest of physicians, he dug up some medicine which tasted like the juice of some ancient egyptian mummies & we reckon that it will dig up roads & bring down trees as well as reduce temperatures.
Lately I have been getting up for a couple of hours each day but today the 26th my temperature is up again & I am in bed, its the fun of the world getting rid of this flu. Just had a letter from Ron Scotts cousin she is coming in to see me.
