My dear Florrie
Had a good old walk round our sector today, very interesting. I suppose it should be esteemed a privilege to roam round really it is jolly, the sapper remarked "here's a bit of Fritz," giving the portion a kick & "there's some more around," you see all sorts of things you know. "How are things going digger?" he was 18" deep in the mud "Oh! pretty decent," I suppose it is the engineers lot to wander, "Sapper Officer" carries you anywhere & everywhere, its real jolly.
Watched our artillery "bomb" an area today, mine goodness! I was glad I was on this side of No Mans land. Old Fritz is a casual sort of cove sometimes he lets you roam anywhere & says "nuffin" other times he says a whole heap, today he was in a good mood, his machine guns did a lot of talking to the aeroplanes.
