Well there isn't much doing, the guns are shooting in desultory fashion, the evening straff hasn't yet started, as I look around it is difficult to even imagine that a war is in the immediate vicinity that just over that wood a mile away runs that long line of "No Mans Land" with its cowslips buttercups & daisies & its smiling fields just now its quiet but at dusk machine gun bullets commence to purr across it & instead one will hear the whistle of the shells, goodness war is a funny business.

Today has been simply glorious & I have quite enjoyed the sunshine.
