My dear Florrie

My days work is again finished & I am returned to my hut, its quite comfortable now. My batman got some coal & against my drum - the fireplace - rests a heap of wood kindly knocked out of some houses for us by old Fritz, it burns fine & my room is nice & cosy.

My feet rest on a rug purloined by the aforesaid batman for my comfort. My hut you will recognise is the home of comfort, I shall be loath to leave it.

Today I journed [journeyed] into the town near here, it has been evacuated by the inhabitants & got one or two french books to read at my leasure, one deals with the Revolution in Rome the other an
