the waste & desolation & one is filled with a strange emotion, is it symbolical? does it mean that out of these tribulations will arise noble & purer ideals?

Mr Williams my old friend from Geelong has been awarded his M.C. I am delighted, spent an hour with him last night.

Today I received your parcel posted on 19th of February, it was opened in England by the Customs but everything arrived safe & sound, the cigars are good & I quite enjoy them.  The writing paper will be useful and as for the lollies they're tres bon.

The old estaminet still possesses its billiard table, we spend many a pleasant time around it have just enjoyed a game.

With love to all

Malcolm
