lean up against a fence & wait untill some motor waggon comes along, you need not wait long, this ceaseless running of waggons, night & day thing whirl along & you can go for miles & miles & nobody asks any questions.  It is quite possible to get on waggons & finish up 60 or 70 miles behind the lines, thus we "hopped waggons" hopped four before we arrived here as a matter of fact we finished up in a staff car.

The country here is delightful & at present the crops are 4'6" high.  Elms & chestnuts line the banks of the river & the boundaries of properties.  I had a walk yesterday to a village 5 kilos down the river & it was thoroughly enjoyable to
