My dear Florrie
Just a few lines, your parcel No 33 arrived today just on time for afternoon tea "tres bon", the butter cheese biscuits etc. were in good trim & soon I did the honours at table. The weather has been extremely cold today a keen wind was blowing & I walked to a high hill some 3 miles away to get warm & enjoy the view. I saw shell bursts in towns held by the Germans & felt somewhat blessed, right along the line from horizon to horizon I watched the flashes of our guns. Old Fritz doesn't get much peace or sympathy, as I write a 12" gun is sending some complementaries, the shells whistle thro the air.
Beyond a few night jobs on the edge of "No Mans Land" we have had no excitement there isn't much doing.
Its just a month from today to Xmas. I would have like to have spent
