My dear Malcolm,
You poor dear Boy. I cannot tell you how sorry we are to hear through Mrs Jackson how poorly you are. We are hoping but fearing that you would not overcome your illness so rapidly, we did not like you enough we do trust now that with patience & on your back waiting with patience & with your strength & youth, as assets you may make progress, a sure progress to health, but you will have to be careful & very patient with yourself & thankful too my dear boy, I fancy you opening your eyes wide & asking, Whats [indecipherable]? God's ways are not our ways. This may have been in His infinite Mercy sparing you from something worse, so my dear be very patient & trust Him more.
Your Auntie is greatly put out & so we all are. We have pictured you in France in the thick of the fray, not having time to write a line.
