Since we joined them we have had a couple of test shoots to see if the guns have the right mixture in the recoiling chambers. On the 1st test the guns were jumping something awful but were allright the 2nd time, as the oil in the buffers had been thickened in the meantime by the addition of some glycarine.
Oct 27th
Moved to Gamli [El Gamli] a place in the Wadi just below Tel-el-Fara. We are going out any day now as the big stunt is starting soon. Our Heavy group is going to Beersheeba [Beersheba] . There is great movement of troops now - getting ready for the attack.
Oct 31st
Moved out last night to a position 13 miles from Fara & 5 from Beersheeba [Beersheba].
Got into position about 3 am put our stn up & then turned in for a sleep until 6 am when the attack started. We bombarded all day long on various targets as Batteries etc but mostly on redoubts & trenches. Just about dusk & after a couple of hours
