over the plain, you cannot see 50 yds ahead of you when going to water & the dust gets down your nose & through parching you & fills your eyes & ears up.
20th
Our horses were out grazing today on the hills just to the west of the camp & something caused them to stampede. Away they went full gallop through the camp & away beyond it.
They were eventually pulled up about 2 miles from camp & 3 managed to break their necks. Twas a surprise to us as we did not think our horses had a gallop left in them.
All Regiments are being issued with 24 donkeys each now owing to lack of remounts. None have come over for 3 months & no more are expected until the end of this month.
23rd
Went to 67th Sqdn AFC today as a wireless operator. I have been after this for some time now & passed my test when down on the beach. I rank as 2 AM & pay is increased to 8/- per day.
