Some German prisoners whom we have questioned say that the Turks let them down here & laughed at us for saying we took Metz. The last German news they had had was that they were only a few miles from Paris.

The prisoners are a very ragged lot indeed a great number not having any boots ever & in nearly all cases their clothes consist of patchwork of all kinds & colours of material.

Their physique is better than any previous lots we have captured.

We were to have started on a 4 days trek to Haifa today but the move was cancelled late last night.

Twas read out on a general parade today that Bulgaria had surrended & handed over her railways etc. The news was taken very quietly, almost as a matter of course.

Tis unofficially said that Turkey has surrended also. Though not confirmed yet, I think it only a matter of a few days before Turkey gives in as her position is rendered much more critical by the caving in of Bugaria.

General Allenby a few days ago entered Damascus in state & Beirut is expected to fall at any time now.

There are 50 guns parked down at Tul Keram Station & this with the 70 we saw at Kalkili [Kalkilieh] makes 120 on this coastal sector.
