One building which used to be Turkish GHQ has a tall spire on it with a clock on each side of its 4 sides. Also in the town is an old tower the remains of an early Christian Church. At the foot of it are some underground chambers extending for some considerable distance, which I did not explore however.

Surrounding the town are about 40 acres of almond orchards. A great deal of the land around here has been ploughed quite recently. The methods of ploughing are the same as back in Egypt & are very primative.

On the afternoon of the 10th it fined up & we moved up to a position about 3 miles out from Ludd. The roads are so bad - just like quagmires that our guns were getting stuck everywhere. Were getting stuck everywhere.

The distance was only 7 miles but at 3 am next morning we were still a couple of miles short with 3 guns stuck along the road & the 4th upside down
