mornings later I caught 6 including a big cat fish or mud fish weighing about 4 lbs. The fish are either carp or perch we are not sure which. Personally I think they must be carp. For bait we use locusts & fish with a rod & float. The river teems with fish.
Between fishing & swimming one can get some sport & diversion from the monotony of the work here. We go down every day now one spending the morning & the other the afternoon & next day vice-verse & so on.
There have been a couple of stunts on here during the last 10 days there object being to lessen somewhat the great area of no mans land excisting at present (about 3,000 yds) & to deprive the enemy of some of his best observation posts.
So far all objectives have been attained with comparatively slight losses, & consolidated against all counter attacks. The enemy did not like losing some of these points & in one case counter attacked 7 times.
