Cairo almost through Ismailia & gets its name from that place. There was quite a lot of traffic on it - the old sailing boats with the big sails.

I was to learn a lot more about Egypt in the future & the part these canals took in it. Have been in Ismailia a few times but do not think much of it. The European quarter is the only decent part, the native quarter being very dirty.

The natives all seem to have donkeys, very small animals about 3'6" high which can carry very heavy loads in comparison to their size. Tis nothing to see a donkey coming along with a huge load up from under which all you can see is his head & legs. Also the men ride on top of this at times while the women carry great loads on their heads with the greatest of ease.
