14th
Moved up 2,000 yds further today as we were out of range almost, our extreme range is 13,500 yds for which the trail of the gun must be tug down considerably to get the gun elevated to 30º or 32°. We can see Jaffa quite distinctly from here it lying across the plain 12 miles away.
Our advanced section who are about a mile in front of us were shelled one morning for 2 hrs & had to move a few hundred yards.
22nd
It has been raining for last few days, intermittently. There was a very heavy bombardment last night over on the coast sector in which the navy participated.
We advanced some miles this morning capturing some hundreds of prisoners & the village of Mulebis [Mulebbis].
Had an issue of Australian butter (¼ lb each) today in lieu of bacon & also rabbits, we get these twice a week now & this will continue throughout the winter.

Last night it simply poured for 3 hours or more & about 1 am our Bivvy which was situated
