A few days ago one of our scouts went over the enemy 'drome looking for fight & 4 enemy machines came up after him. He shot down 2 of them in flames & the others not wishing to share the same fate cleared off.
Friday 28th
Went to Jaffa this morning - it being about 2 hours ride distant. I had my heavy winter clothing & was in a bath of perspiration practically all the time I was in there.
Was very disappointed in Jaffa as it did not come up to my expectations. The shops had a very poor supply of goods with very little variety. In fact it took me nearly 4 hours before I could get any fishing tackle. Went all round the town including the seafront of which I took several snaps.
There is really no harbour, ships having to lie out some distance, their cargoes being brought in in surf boats which come through a break in the reef which lies about
