the past week to get the balloon but without success. The machine comes over with things on its wings looking like one of our machines.
Sept 13th
Our battery which has been separated (2 Sections) since Xmas joined up last night & we are staying with them.
There is a huge concentration of artillery going on along this Sector of the front. On a short front of about 7 or 8 miles we will have about 4 Bdes of Heavier (20 Batteries (4 guns each) & about 180 field guns. (There were about 400 guns in all.)
Further to the right in the hills by Medjel Yaba are some French 75 batteries. There is a French Division somewhere over there - The Light Horse - Anzac Division (including my old Regt) lay some 4 or 5 miles in rear of us.
The position we are in at present is a very open & exposed one & we are not to fire until the stunt starts. A heavy battery was shelled out of here about 5 months ago - being under direct observation from our right flank.
