miles further. Got into position about 10 pm put our station up & turned in. On the way up we saw a big Turkish ammunition dump going up at Sheria [Tel el Sheria].
Early this morning 7th we were in the bombardment & barrage on Sheria which it was necessary for us to take as it contained an unlimited water supply. The place was taken after very violent hand to hand fighting about 8 am.
Advanced again at 11 am about 1½ miles & got into a position about 2 miles from Sheria.
The L Horse (Aus Divn) went through this morning & are following up the retreating turks. They captured 2 5.9" Howitzers this morning absolutely intact.
The plan now seems to be to swing round north of Gaza & envelope it as we have broken his C centre at Sheria while Beersheeba [Beersheba] settled his right flank.
There was a combined army & navy bombardment of Gaza for 3 days but
