For the remainder of that day there was a long string of cilvilians with their goods & chattel making for Jaffa.
Jan 25th
Was reading in an Australasian [national illustrated weekly] an account of tthe mosaic work that used to be at Shellal & which is now in Australia.
Feb 12th
Tis becoming a regular thing now to have places up near the line where the troops get their blankets & clothes disinfected regularly & where they can have a hot disinfectant bath every 10 days or so. There is one in Mulebis [Mulebbis] that we go to.
The object of it is to keep down lice which are very plentiful in winter & which are supposed to cause cholera. As cholera is fairly rife up this way we have to be inoculated against it every 3 months.
Feb 25th
The almond trees are in bloom now making a very pretty sight indeed & what a few weeks ago was a big area of seemingly dead trees is now a mass of white. There is hanrdly a piece of bare ground about now.
