journey. Also had dinner on board the train in the Dining Car it costing us 4/6 each.
Reached Kantara at 3 pm & at 6 left on the leave train across th desert. It consisted of open trucks with a rough boarded roof to break the power of the sun. We were packed in like sardines, 35 men per truck with hardly room to move & not much chance of sleeping.
Arrived back at Medjel next morning at 8 am. I had a great time during the week I was away living well & eating well but the journey back knocks all the benefit out of one.
April 2nd
Saw Micky Tuson & Bob Stinson last night as they camped near the aerodrome for the night en route for the front again, after some months "spell" or so called down at Gaza.
Apr 4th
Had a fly this morning. Went up in a British Fighter & was only up a quarter of an hour when we had to come down owing to engine trouble.
