The Hun machine was much faster than ours & could manouvre with much greater ease.

Our patrol brought in 2 Turkish prisoners this morning (14th). They were quite young & rather good looking. They were armed with Mauser Rifles (1916 pattern) 120 rounds ammunition & a saw edged bayonet each. There clothes were exceedingly rough & coarse material.

The 74th Divn have now taken over all the trenches we have been digging for the last month or so.

Moved yesterday up the wadi to a place called Hisea 1 mile from Shellal. The water we were using at the last place has now been marked cholera infected, which explains why we were all so sick at H.Q.s for a few days. For some days I used to vomit up all my meals as soon as I had had them & feel alright again afterwards, & quite prepared to eat another good meal.

Wind & dust have been very bad during last few days & absolutely get into everything. You cannot keep clean as if you have a wash you are just as bad again in 5 minutes time.
