it though there was room enough for 20 men.
There are a lot of bugs in these caves which bite during the night & suck blood out, leaving a great black mark about the size of a three penny bit. Several of the chaps got covered with these, including my mate but I did not get any of the bites luckily.
We got out of the cave today 28th & pitched our bivvy under a tree on top of the hill.
On 29th we left for a position up the coast beyond Jaffa. To go to it across country would have only been about 7 miles, but we had to go round by the road to Ludd & Jaffa, as it was to boggy going across the plain.
Camped 3 miles on the Ludd side of Jaffa the first day on the main road from Jaffa to Jerusalem. To get to this we had to get through some awful mud & slush but from now on the way will be much easier.
Next morning 30th we pressed on passing through Jaffa, without stopping or having a chance to see anything of it. The country around Jaffa is very rich & covered with orange
