the other side of the line is a big Tommy camp containing anything up to 20,000 men.
Had 3 inoculations in the first week. Tis pretty monotonous in Isolation, as we have no means of getting out for a swim or of going in to Ismailia. Nevertheless some of us did go out a few times down to the main detail camp & down swimming at night even.
Won 100 yds Chmps of isolation camp today out of 16 starters. It was worth only about 10/- to me.
Voting for the Referendum took place on 16th & 17th but I did not have a vote.
A riding school for young Tommy officers used to practise near our camp. They were awfully amusing as they all rode in Tod Sloan [American jockey] fashion (knees up) & none of them knew anything about riding.
