which fired 6 rounds into the town with what result I don't know. They have also been shelling Ludd lately at a range of between 12 & 15 miles. Don't know the calibre of the gun.
Aug 10th
Several nights ago we had an all night bombardment of Johnny's roads & back areas as they were expecting him to withdraw from his present position which has been made almost untenable by our artillery concentrating on his roads & interfereing very seriously with his transport.
We have splendid observation on his roads etc & every convoy that goes along is shelled. Our battery alone fires practically all day on transport, motor lorries, infantry etc, going along behind his line.
Tis expected that the Germans are to be withdrawn from this front also a lot of the Turkish artillery which is manned by Austrian & German
