posted up on walls, doors, etc all over the building. They must have been a working order I think, as in underground rooms we saw carpenters shops, paint shops etc, a spirit making place.
The monks cubicles were of a fair size & moderately well furnished with bed, table, chairs etc.
In front of the monastery is a statue of Our lady erected by the Chilian Govt.
The L[ight] House buildings were really the Palace of Abdulla [Abdullah] Pacha [Pasha] [Ruler of Acre 1820-1831] though I don't think much of it as a palace, for an ordinary residence it would be fine.
We are getting fresh meat & bread at last & tis a great relief to us. Half the Gun detachment are in hospital now & everyone else is very weak. I have not been at all well lately & put it down to the grub we are getting.
Our broad gauge railway is up as far as Tul Keram now which ought to ensure a plentiful supply of fresh rations up here.

The weather has broken now, the last few days being very overcast & accompanied by strong winds. Have not had much rain however.
