(We are only 3 miles from the sea here) away the same night as it was knocked out & a week or so later we got one from our other section which has got a new gun.
16th
We were shelled here today shrapnel & H.E. No damage done but some of the shells burst among the mens bivouacs & one went 25 yd from the gun.
May 20th
There have been a lot of changes on this front during the past 6 weeks. The 52nd, 10th, 74th & Yeomen Divns have gone to France while the 7th & 3rd Indian Divns have taken their place. There are still more Indians coming up the line & down below there are also a couple of Divisions of Indian Cavalry.
The Indians are not much chop, the Ghurkas being easily the best of them. To every 3 battalions of Indians they put 1 of white troops & the Indians often clear out & leave the whites in the lurch. The Indians are good in attack but
