full size wings, which are transparent & of a pinkish colour. When disturbed they rise & fly about 7 or 8 yards, very rarely going more than about 10 yds at one time. They have immense jaws & their hind legsĀ are very well developed for jumping purposes. They are coloured like sand.
In the war news we have been receiving from Vienna during the last few days the Germans claim capture of Soissons [France] & many other towns, 45,000 prisoners, 400 odd guns, thousands of machine guns & tremendous quantities of war material. Also the outer forts of Rheims have been taken & the city is almost surrounded. Am expecting anyday to hear of the capture or the capitulation of Rheims. They claim to have pushed the French back about 15 miles.
June 9th
During the last week or so we have been catching fish down in the Auja River, my mate caught a dozen one morning averaging abour a pound. A couple of
