into Aden too early. Near Aden the water is remarkably clear & we could see fish etc quite clearly to a remarkable depth. Sharks are very plentiful in these waters & even before going in we saw about 20 of the hammer headed variety while the harbour simply swarms with them .
Had a route march ashore each day when it got cool. Aden, I think is the last place God made & he forgot to finish it.
The town or what little there is there lays at the foot of some rough, barren hills which comes down to the waters edge almost. There are a couple of hotels, a few other buildings, the rest being barracks & hospitals.
