was made to get them down. Another balloon went up next day but was pulled a couple of days later & has not since gone up.
The reason is that we have not got enough antis here to protect them as some were sent over to the Jordan where the huns have been very busy against our L. Horse lately.
12th
We were shelled today by a 12cm gun. The 3rd shot was a direct hit on 1 gun & split the buffers apart. It could not have been a neater hit. 8 shells came over all together & all of them were very near the gun. The Sergt-Mjr was wounded. The gun crew was off the gun at the time or else they would have all been wiped out.
Next night we moved to a position about ½ a mile away to our left rear & the battery whose place we took went into our position. They have been frightened to fire since going in there. (Our gun had to go
