Our Nieuports & SE 5's get all over the Huns & average at least one a day at times for some considerable time. We have quite a lot of anti air craft guns here also which give the Huns a very hot time & their barrage stops them every time.
Mar 10th
Moved up to a position in front of the village, only 1,500 yds behind the line. There is a battery of 18 pounders alongside us & on the other side 15th Heavies also 60 pdrs. All these guns are on a 200 yds frontage. The field battery is going up closer for the stunt.
The enemy shelled us at 4 am on the morning we pulled in & tis likely to be a hot shop.
They have given us a dugout for the Huns, the first we have had. It is 6' x 6' x 6' with corrugated iron & 3 tons of earth on top.
Was relieved the next afternoon to go on leave. Stayed at the 113 Sqdn aerodrome that night at Sarona only a couple of miles out of Jaffa, as we had to bring in another chap next day from a battery over near the coast.
