not know exactly where they were going so we went about 6 miles ahead & waited for them at a village. We found no difficulty in getting a ride as there are motors passing continually day & night.
Some [met] some chaps from the 1st Regt today & had a long yarn to them. The Regt has been cut up during the stunt & has so far had about 120 casualties.
Ainslie Kingsford has a commission now.
Dec 4th
Went on to Naanch today 5 miles beyond Junction & only 3 from Ramleh we are to camp here some days & then go into action just out beyond Ludd.
To celebrate my 21st birthday on (5th) only had Bully & biscuits. It had been very cold here during past few days & raining almost continuously.
Went into Ramleh one afternoon & had a good look around. It is a fair sized place of about 4,000 inhabitants & has some decent buildings in it. It has plenty of shops etc but they do not contain much.
