Nov 9th
Left the aerodrome this morning on the initial stage of our journey to England. There are 26 all told - wireless operators - & 5 (1914) men going home to Australia.
We set off at 6.30 am in 2 motor lorries & reached Tul Keram at 10 am, after a very quick but rough & dusty 3½ hours travelling.
At Tul Keram had to sit down until about 2 pm before we knew that we could get a train down at all. We are travelling in usual way all jammed in an open truck with our kit. Can see no hope of getting any sleep tonight unless it is sitting up, as we are so packed in with kit etc.
Since we left here early last month this place has undergone a wonderful transformation. Our broad guage railway is some miles beyond here now, the old Turkish line between here & Haifa being used until our line gets through.
There is a great dump of Turkish guns, waggons, ammunition, etc here including about 40 odd 5.9" Howt.
Was not sorry to leave Haifa as the weather
