due the size of the boat & to the fact that she was tossed about like a cork. I was not the only one sick, by any means.

Left Beirut at 0545 & reach Haifa at 3 pm the distance by sea being about 90 miles. At Haifa we got onto the officers train leaving at 8 pm & got to Ludd at 11 pm.

We were nor allowed to travel on the officers train unless we had tickets to go as officers batmen so we accosted officers going down who did not seem to have batmen, & asked them to get us the necessary ticket. They were very good about it & we all three had no trouble in getting tickets though we did not see any more of the officers afterwards.

At Ludd there was no car waiting so we had to walk back to the Sqdn, 2 miles away & carry our blankets & kit. It was 1 am before we got home & I was quite done up.

We were 24 hours over leave but have heard nothing of it since - I don't think we will be put up for being A.W. leave.

Tis possible now to go from Damascus to Cairo in 29 hours by train which is really good I think as the distance is about 580 - 600 miles.
