The Handley Page Machine flew up here today from Ramleh. As she came over the mountain she looked just like a great bird floating along. She is a huge machine & to look at her you would not think she would rise off the ground.
She has 2, 360 HP Rolls Royce Engines, a crew of 5 & can carry a ton of bombs. She is so big that one of our big hangars which ordinarily will hold 6 B. Fighters is not big enough for her. To get her in, her wings have to be folded back along the fuselage & even then it takes up the whole of the hangar.
She is very slow in the air only doing about 80 miles & seems to move very slowly. Though slow & clumsy in manouvering she is heavily armed & at times mounts as many as 8 or 10 machine guns, which would make her a very formidable opponent.
Today, she was to go on to our advanced aerodrome about 150 miles up with a load of about 60 odd tins of petrol & some oil. She is fitted with wireless both sending & receiving, the latter not having been used yet however.
