priced it at 3 shops. One charged 12 PT for it another 14 & the third 20PT & yet the mirror was exactly the same in all cases.
The same thing applied we found to many other things. They often have special prices for Australians too as they say we have more money. This is not really correct as we cannot draw more than 3/- per day (L Horse 2/-) but when our chaps do have any money they throw it about more than the Tommies.
Went round the Harbour in a sailing boat one morning & took snaps of various things. Saw a big tramp with a huge hole in her side where a torpedo had hit her but in spite of this she had managed to get into port. Saw another steamer from which some one had removed the sea valves causing her to settle down. She had been down 6 weeks when I saw her but efforts were then being made to raise her.
