of 24th & berthed at the outer Harbour. We again got leave to go ashore, but by the time our special train reached the city it was midday. Tis just an hours journey to the city, through sandy waste land most of the way. Was rather taken up with Adelaide & prefer it to either Sydney or Melbourne as a city though it is very hot in summer I should say. The city seems so nice & clean, with a good tram service & wide sreet. The peculiarity of Adelaide is that all the buildings are down one long street, rather a novel idea I thought as in Sydney & Melbourne they are intersperced all through the city. Went to visit my uncle who is manager of the Commercial Bank. Was very sorry that our time was so limited as we had only a few hours which would not allow of one going out
