5/- of which I must allot. Hope to stay in the aerodrome for a couple of months & have an easy time.

Things are much more comfortable in here at the aerodrome than in the L Horse & the men have tents to sleep in (4 per tent) & also mess huts (marquees) for meals. By putting in 10 PTS [piastres] each per pay we can get a lot of extras in grub & at least can have a pudding every day.

There was an air scrap this morning but on account of it being up in the sun we could not see it, but could hear the machine guns easily enough. It appears that 2 of our machines tackled 2 Huns. One cleared off home while the other stayed.

The one that stayed was brought down in our lines with holes through his engine & petrol tank. It was an Albatross Scout & the pilot was captured uninjured & the machine was intact.

One of our machines was badly knocked about & had trouble in reaching the drome.
