level & it is through here that Johnny was expected to go as we had no guns & very few infantry on it. All the guns from both sides of the plain however were trained & the gunners stood to all night & at the waggon lines the horses were ready harnessed up all night.
The Field hospital behind us moved back 3 miles & the Group went back the same distance.
May 3rd
Moved over to a position N of Mulebis [Mulebbis] & about 4 miles from it. We are beyond the Ajua River [Nahr el Auja] & only ½ a mile beyond the front line. We have a good natural cover however as we have our bivvy pitched in a wadi & the guns are on the bank of it.
We expect to get shelled here anyday as we have not got much cover in front of the guns to hide the smoke.
We travelled at night as usual & did not get into position until just before daylight. As usual we got stuck but managed to get out of it some how.
