Sept 5th
Received a letter of congrats today from Gens Chauvel & Chaytor & a piece of ribbon. Sent this home as it would only have got soiled & dirty.
We were inspected today by Gen Chaytor Divn Commander & I had to brighten up our bits & stirrup irons for it. We cleaned them in the sand but they were just as bad again in a couple of days.
The 2nd Bde have just completed a Boxing Tournament which was very successful though there was not much talent there. Brig Gen Ryrie was referee & gave very good decisions. He is an ex-Champion amateur & knows a lot about the game.
Our Bde starts a tourament tomorrow.
6th
A lot of the horses are getting sand colic, other wise they are doing pretty well. To prevent them eating sand we have muzzles for them now.
