at present (but no relation) a Lieut McNamara from the 67th AFC who has the VC & is wounded. He landed in the Turkish lines & brought away the pilot of one of our machines that had been brought down.
July 10th
Left the 14th for Montazal Convelecent home, a few miles out from Alexandria & near Aboukir Bay. Tis a fine place - the Harem of the Sultan of Egypt before the war & now the Red Cross Convalescent Home. It is absolutely ideal for a convalescent home & is situated round the shores of a small bay that has only a small entrance & exit.
There are about 1,400 patients here at present about 100 of whom are Australians. The Block I happen to be in was donated by the Lismore District farmers. There are numerous buildings here which are used as wards & about 100 acres of fruit trees & woodlands.
The Bay is an ideal place for swimming, it being about 600 yds across to the breakwater where the water is as clear as crystal. A young Scotty & myself used to go over to the Breakwater for a
