Safe at present & there are breakdowns nearly every day on it. At Mazar took some snaps of a derailed engine.
20th
Left at 8.30 for El Arish travelling along the beach practically all the way. Passed our aerodrome at Kilo 143. Just as we got to El Arish or Kilo 153 a Taube came over very high up & on being fired at by our anti aircraft guns turned & went back. I did not see the machine, as it was along way off.
We camped just over the railway line & about 200 yds from the sea. Went in swimming about 3 times a day & played football almost every afternoon. Went in swimming my horse one day with my watch on & of course the water got into it & rusted it.
The surf is not much good & there is also a fair amount of under tow. We have played the machine gun Squadron & Field Ambulance Combined, result 0 - 0. The complete
