officer of about 18 years of age was in great distress. His mule simply took him where it liked & eventually he had to get off & lead it back to the main lot.
20th Oct went out of Isolation today down into the main Details Camp. This is the main base camp for the L. Horse in Egypt.
The stables are made of light wood with rush work over the top. Each building is about 50 yds long & would hold as many horses or 75 perhaps. These stables were in 2 rows about 30 yards apart & ran the whole length of the camp in front of the tents, a distance of at least ¾ of a mile. There were never many horses in the stables however.
Used to go swimming nearly every day in the Lake & I used to enjoy it immensely. On the way to the Lake we used to cross a fresh water canal about 25 yds wide that runs from P[ort] Said right to
